What's your player of choice? I'm currently using mpd with a front end, and it's fine but fiddly to set up.

I just haven't found anything that deals nicely with a large-ish FLAC library.

I usually keep it simple with Rhythmbox.

It's been years since I've tried it, might be worth another shot.
