EP info
The early sound of The Amorist relied heavily on southern gothic rock outfits akin to The Colour Revolt and Manchester Orchestra as well as alt-country standby Ryan Adams, but since the addition of multi-instrumentalist Gregory Price, has evolved a more pastoral Fleet Foxes quality. The new sound has the feel of Band of Horses covering Adams’ early project Whiskeytown. The runaway train ¾ beat provided by Perkins and O’pry along with Stacey’s angular guitar heroics battling Femster’s bluesy rhythm guitar is perfectly complimented by Price’s keyboard flourishes creating a Darjeeling Does Dallas effect. Since its inception, The Amorist has been a huge draw at festivals, having recently played SXSW, all the while headlining dozens of shows in Southeast Texas as well as Southwest Louisiana. The band is looking forward to releasing their debut album in early May 2010.
